Tools to Make Working with Huge or Large Amount of Data Easier

Data on worksheets can be a very simple format with limited on defined amount of data that could be just enough to fit in the view of your screen or it can be a complicated one with very huge amount of data some of which are being updated on a regular basis.

With the two main purposes in mind, data manipulation and analysis of the content it is very important that users will be able to work in a very fast but will full accuracy even how large the data may be.

Working on with the first situation will be a lot easier when it comes to data manipulation, regular update and extraction of stored data to make a presentation or summary, on the other hand the latter situation will need a great deal of knowledge and skills with Excel to have the required results in a fast and effective manner.

There are a number of ways and tools in excel that users can use to make their work faster and more effective way especially with those worksheets where different kind of reports and presentation are need. Given that every user has his own way of doing things it will still be important to discuss some of the most common ways and tools that can be applied or used in manipulating large amount of data.

When it comes to tools 3 ribbons will instantly come to our mind:

1. Home - the first ribbon where mainly shortcuts to important and most commonly used functions in data manipulation. The contents such as Clipboard, Font, Alignment, Number, Styles, Cells and Editing are basically useful on the format of the spreadsheet, how the spreadsheet will look like, and other general ways of manipulating and searching on the spreadsheet.

2. Data - the ribbon which contains extensive tools in data manipulation. Although part of this ribbon can be accessed in the Home Ribbon, Sort and Filter, the complete and easier way of using these useful tools can be done on this ribbon. Other filters on this ribbon are very useful for the purpose of both presentation and easier analysis of the large amount of data.

3. View - the ribbon that we can consider of very high importance when it comes to both manipulation and analysis of data. This ribbon contains tools that can help the user to easily see and understand the content of the spreadsheet and at the same time helps the user as a guide for easier updating or faster entry of data especially with the Window functions.

Familiarity with the full functions on the above mentioned ribbons will help the users to work with their spreadsheets faster and of higher efficiency. Even though every user can set or may have already set his own strategy on the sequence and ways to use the tools all still depends on these 3 useful ribbons.
